We, Paul and Cynthia Handlen, welcome you to the place we love and call home, Bethel, Sunday River, Newry, Gilead, and all the lovely little surrounding towns and townships nestled here in the Western Mountains of Maine.  

We did not move to the Bethel area to become the oldest, the biggest, or the highest volume real estate agency in the area; we moved here, because we love it here and to make a way of life for ourselves in which we do not feel forced to sacrifice some of our deepest core values and principles of caring for our clients; our neighbors, friends, and family--our community, and our world through mindful, careful, considerate action. We believe these values, which originate from our many years of operating a small business, raising a family, and the challenges of life in general, motivate us to maintain high standards of practice for our clients, our real estate community, and for the real estate industry at large. 

We believe the first order of business in real estate is not just property, land, houses, buildings; we believe real estate is about people, and that no business deal is worth sacrificing our connection to and the well being of the lives we touch or the land we live on. The state's laws, rules, and standards of ethics are established by the real estate industry to protect the public, but they cannot protect you if you are not dealing with a licensed real estate broker. Handlen Realty's agents are members of the National Association of REALTORS^® and the Maine Association of REALTORS^®, and Western Maine Board of REALTORS^® and as such are highly commited to the NAR Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice to protect the public and integrity of the real estate profession.

Handlen Realty's Maine Real Estate Licensed Brokers, Paul and Cynthia Handlen, provide complete real estate services for both buyers and sellers and, in the instances of selling the properties listed by Handlen Realty: houses and homes for sale, condominiums, land, building lots, or commercial investment properties, may act as a disclosed dual agency, meaning we can represent both the buyer and the seller in a transaction, if all parties consent. If you do not consent to disclosed dual agency representation, Handlen Realty will act as your agent, working only as your buyer broker or the listing agent. In all cases, Handlen Realty's agents will fully explain your options of representation so that you can make a fully informed decision about the type of representation you ultimately choose.
